    Strong winter soft shell jacket

I use this jacket below -2°C and windy situation. At first, I use several base layer or jersey with this jacket. Finally, Isadore's Deep Winter Long Sleeve base layer is best match to keep warm and dry condition for my riding. The side ventilation ducts is useful to keep without sweat. I used it for about two hours in wind and rain, and although the surface got a little wet, there was no leakage, and I remained comfortable.

Perfect for just above zero temperatures

I am 1.80m and weigh 71kg, slim build. The size S is tight, just right. A good fit, to give a aero feel. I have used the jacket now about 6 times, for shorter and longer rides in temperatures from about 2°C to 10°C, both dry and wet conditions. Always with a short sleeve merino base layer underneath. My experience: - Temperature range: really nice at 0°C to 5°C, gets a bit warm above 5°C, but then opening the two back zips and front zip help to regulate the temperature. - Rainproof: in constant rain at about 8°C, while the jacket doesn't keep all the water out, I did not get cold. - Breathability: ok, not great. Especially above 5°C, on a hard ride, sweat did not all evaporate and the inside of the jacket was quite wet after the ride. So all in all a perfect jacket below about 5°C in dry it rainy conditions.

Choose something a little looser for everyday wear.

I am a light user and used it for long rides. Even when I was wearing a backpack, I didn't get stuffy because I could open the zips under the armpits. There is no problem in light rain, but you should prepare a separate jacket in case of rain.

    Not for skinnny types

I'm 193cm / 85kg with long slim arms. I bought it through an online reseller shop. I love the fabric, and it keeps me warm in temperatures a few degrees under zero. Using the Isadore Winter Wind Block Long Sleeve Baselayer (great with the chest "pannel"). I do enjoy the front pocket for my mobile phone and love the shorter cut of Isadore's tops. Also, the collar is on the larger side, which I like. However, the cuffs are too large, so cold gets under, and also, the bottom part under the back pockets tends to lift from my back and lets the cold inside. I would appreciate it if the sleeves had the possibility to tighten up as the Winter Hardshell Jacket does. I will probably sell this one and buy the Winter Hardshell Jacket instead. Still looking for the perfect winter jacket!

Versatile deep winter long ride jacket

Definitely not suitable for intensive training, even though it has two ventilation zip openings. It’s more for long rides, but in that case it absolutely does its job – riding in the cold, fast descents in winter, drizzle, wind – it handles everything with ease. As for the downsides: the weight, but that’s the price you pay for versatility; the front pocket for items – when it’s full it tends to press a bit, it would have been better placed on the back; the sleeve cuffs – they’re loose, I would have expected an elastic drawcord which would make putting on gloves easier; and finally the price. But if you believe that by buying it you’re supporting a top-quality European eco product, then yes!
