Lightweight insulated jacket with a narrow racing cut made from recycled materials designed for high-tempo rides in cold and dry weather conditions.

The front, shoulders and top of the sleeves are made from functional Pertex® Quantum Air material and feature a Polartec® Alpha® Direct insulation layer underneath. The composition of the jersey is complemented by high-density recycled fabric on the back and inside of the sleeves to prevent unwanted heat leaks. Polartec® is quick-drying and features excellent breathability and light weight. In addition, the outer layer is treated with a Fluorine-free water-repellent treatment, which increases the material’s ability to repel water and dirt. Three spacious back pockets are complemented by a zippered pocket and a zippered chest pocket for added security and accessibility of carried contents. Sustainability principles of the jacket production are underlined by two-way recycled zippers, zipper pullers and silicone tape around the bottom hem for better insulation, which is also made from recycled material.

Good but not perfect.

I have some reservations. Pockets are deep but they are too high. I have never experienced pockets so high :) With two lyears under I was comfortable in -2 and windy. Wind was going a bit inside from the front but nothing unpleasant I would say. I was a bit cold from the back. Jacket is very very short if I compare the lenght with other brands I have. I would prefer much longer to protect lover back and maybe even Polartec here. I do like long sleeves as I have long hands. 181/70kg and size S fit is OK.

exceptionally well made (except for the back pockets)

The Alternative Insulated Jacket is (imho) exceptionally well made; giving me full confidence that it will last ages (or more), even for a daily user. Fabric feels robust yet cosy, and the Isadore design is something I appreciate. The fit is more on the "close side", which works well on the bike but a bit snug off it. Plus I like the zippers out of polymer/plastics. Only drawback is the placement of the back pockets, which are noticeably high, and accessing them with winter gloves on is difficult. Aside from that, the jacket performs and has quickly become number one part of my kit.

Fantastic fitment, looks, materials.

Okay. I have been using this jacket for the last 12 months, so around 5000km in it ('23fall/winter, '24spring/fall) now and it is the best piece of clothing I have ever had, period. LOOKS are fantastic, colour palette is perfect (as with many isadore apparel). For me, it stretches enough to allow for 2 baselayers and heavy breathing and also adjusts to the temperatures very well. It actually does so so well, that I wear it in pretty much in any temp till 15C and just adjust the baselayer materials, types and counts accordingly. AND THE FITMENT :) Usually for the products from alternative series, you should ideally have a rather lean and athletic figure (I am 190/75kg wearing size S) and I have never experience something that is that precisely fitted, literally to the last mm. Even my m2m suits are more off than this haha. Also, the materials are very durable (was wearing it with backpack a lot - zero signs of wear).

Too short

I bought this winter cycling jacket mainly for commuting and have been using it regularly in temperatures down to –5°C. At first glance, the jacket makes a very good impression: the build quality is excellent, the seams are clean, and the materials feel durable and well made. Unfortunately, the jacket is not well thought out for real winter conditions. The cut is too short, especially at the back. While the front of the jacket stays pleasantly warm, the lower back cools down very quickly, which is a serious issue when riding in cold weather. The problem becomes even more noticeable when temperatures drop below freezing. The material on the back is simply not suitable for sub-zero conditions, offering insufficient insulation. As a result, there is a strong temperature imbalance between the warm front and the cold lower back. In summary, this jacket is well manufactured but poorly designed for winter commuting. With a longer cut and better insulation on the back, it could be a great product. As it is, however, it does not provide the level of protection one would expect from a winter cycling jacket.
