Garment traceability and the Fashion Revolution
Connecting the factory worker to the product
Knowing whoismakingyourclothes is the first step to knowing where your clothes come from. We place a lot of importance on tracking where our materials originate and being totally open about what we know and what we haven’t uncovered. Accountability is key to a healthy and sustainable textile industry.
That’s why from the outset, we knew we wanted to work withourhometownMakytaFactoryinPuchov. We know the workers there get a European living wage, work in good conditions and take pride in their craftsmanship. And we take pride in playing our part in having a good working environment for textile workers.
We know that this is not universally the case. Many factory workers throughout the world toil under the toughest conditions. That’s why every year on April 24th we remember the anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh that killed 1138 textile factory workers and injured another 2500. That tragedy sparked theFashionRevolution movement intended to improve conditions and enhance the transparency of the textile industry.
Accountability is an important step to encourage brands to take responsibility for what impact they are making on lives and the environment.
