10 for the road

Martin Velits shares his thoughts about 10 things he is looking forward to the most in 2015.

22.12.2014 – Words by Martin Velits

At Isadore we are lovers of the road, and as the year 2014 comes to an end, we thought it would be fitting to have a toast to our customers for your support, and sit down with the founder of Isadore Apparel - Martin Velits - to hear about the things he looks forward to the most in 2015.

Although Jacques Anquetil always insisted that “to prepare for a race there is nothing better than a good pheasant, some champagne and woman”, we cannot promise you singing and dancing on the bar, but Martin Velits do have “10 For the Road”.

1. URBAN COLLECTION

We will be launching our first ever line solely designed for Urban riding. Five exciting products we invested a lot of heart in. We will bring you the full story of this journey later in 2015 together with the launch of the collection.

2. NORWEGIAN GETAWAY TRIP

Norway is an overlooked cycling paradise. It is raw and beautiful at the same time. In 2015 Isadore will in cooperation with Velo Pavé host an extended weekend of road cycling in the beautiful area of Afjord near Trondheim. Exquisite roads, breathtaking, raw landscape scenery coupled with home cooked food by Danish star chef Nikolaj Kirk marks for an unforgettable weekend away lasting from Friday to Monday evening with 2,5 days of solid riding. The weekend will be limited to 30 people and as we get closer we will let you know further details and how to sign up.

3. THE CLIMBER'S SERIES

Three new jerseys were born to climb. Bridging Isadore distinctive design with high performance materials. With this collection we are paying tribute to three mythical mountains we selected under the criteria of location, difficulty and personal attachment. Martin and Peter Velits climbed Fuji and Bonnette before. Haleakala have always been on our bucket list and remains to be discovered.

4. OPENING NEW RETAIL ACCOUNTS

After the Velo Pavé Shop-in-Shop opening in Copenhagen this year, we will in 2015 join forces with more retail partners across Europe to be even closer to you, our customers. Early next year you will be able to find Isadore at the beautiful new space of Velodrom Studio in Barcelona. A location in Mallorca will follow closely as well as a couple of selected places later in the season.

5. WOMENS COLLECTION UPDATES

The women’s collection will be updated too. In early Spring 2015 ladies will also be able to enjoy our Merino Membrane Softshell Jacket in a new color variation. The jacket is anatomically shaped and cut to provide maximum comfort for women with the acclaimed performance features still present.

6. TOUR DOWN UNDER

My first big trip of the season will be Down Under. I have been in Australia only once before and I loved it there. Perfect weather, nice roads and a beautiful scenery with still a bit of holiday atmosphere is what I can't wait for in January.

7. ISADORE CAP COLLECTION

Many of you have asked us about the cap we used in our photo shooting. Initially only produced as a prototype, we were blown away by your interest. After lots of dead ends, eventually, we were able to source the antibacterial material we were happy with, and finally in 2015 we will be able to bring you the cap together with one more additional color combination.

8. ISADORE APPAREL AMBASSADORS TEAM

We will be setting out for another new journey ahead. By creating Isadore Ambassadors Team, we are aiming at getting first hand feedback from cycling enthusiasts like ourselves. Located across the world, from LA to Scandinavia to Singapore, we have all riding scenarios pretty much covered. Follow our Ambassadors stories on our Blog space.

9. NEW BLOG SPACE - NEW CONTRIBUTORS

In 2015 I will be joined by our new blog contributors to bring you even more absorbing and authentic content. I will continue to write about the life behind the scenes of Isadore as a brand and my professional cycling career. You may have read Jesper’s entry from last week’s Christmas ride in Denmark. He will continue treating us with his photo essays. Arien is another new face. She will be writing about the most beautiful places to ride your bike. Arien is traveling the world as professional bike tour guide and I'm stoked she could join us.

10. SEASON AHEAD

Last but not least, I can't wait for new season to start with my team Etixx - Quick Step. As I mentioned earlier, I will start at Tour Down Under, following by Tour of Qatar. From sunny side of the world it will be back to Belgian reality starting with Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and the spring semi-classics. I should end my spring campaign with the Ardennes classics week in April. New year, new start, new opportunities.

RIDE!

Martin
