Behind the process of creating Isadore prints
I believe that each product at Isadore has a story, and I would like to show you the insights of how the new prints collection was created.
My name is Martin Gross and this is my first entry into Isadore blog space. My aim at Isadore is to tell the story, descripe the philosphy and the fundnamentals of the brand and what we stand for in my graphic design works. I believe that each product at Isadore has a story, and I would like to show you the insights of how the new prints collection was created.
The whole creative process took several months. Creative euphorias coming and going, exchanging with periods of drought when I wasn’t able to put a line on a paper and felt uninspired. I took my time as there was never a pressure or deadline. Creating a ton of sketches and concepts , all of them living their own life and taking different directions. Some of them lasted some of them didn’t. We finally choosed the final selection of 4 prints.
Another important role played the choice of paper, I wanted something special to carry the sweat of couple of months work. I have chosen heavyweight organic Mohawk Options paper. It has a fine texture and a lovely scent, meets the strict criteria of FSC quality so it was a nobrainer when deciding this.
My aim was not to create a poster, but a work of art that will hide itself in the story. Bridging distinctive with minimalist in order to entertain and last at the same time.
Another thing I’m exceptionally proud about is the actuall production of the prints. I decided for oldfashioned oldschool whatever you call it screen printing technology, which requires high skills and experience of the production process. Each piece of paper and color passed through the hands of masters printer and thanks to his craftmenship we could materialize our work.
Even if you can not experience the smell of the color and paper, I would like to at least share some picture from the printing process to get better idea about the art of turning blank paper into piece of human creation.
