Colors of Tour de France I.

France in the summer season (and not only summer) can be a breathtaking thing to see.

6.7.2016 – Words by Isadore team

With its fairytale like lands, vineyards, rivers, royal gardens and chateaux, nature bursts into a million colors and it's no wonder this country has given this world so many great Impressionist painters: C.Monet, and E. Manet, Renoir, Cezanne, E. Degas, C. Pissarro.

As Tour de France is taking place as we speak and its stages are passing through regions worth your while, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to take you on a journey of local colors.

And because what's new it's always more captivating, we decided to lead our way through the local colors and atmosphere of the newest regions and sites of the Tour, the ones that were introduced only this year.

Your journey starts here:

1. Military Green and Sandy Greys

At the end of stage 1, riders are going to finish on a sandy region, called Utah beach. A place full of history and military lessons, as this land represents the debarquement of US military troops in Normandy, during the Second World War.

2. Bright Green

Conros Castle is located 5 km south of Aurillac on a rocky spur overlooking a lovely meander on the River Cère. The setting is really exceptional and the surrounding countryside is totally unspolit. The surroundings impress with their bright green intact landscapes that remained the same for centuries.

3. Deep Celestial Blue

At the end of the stage 7, all roads stop to Lac de Payolle, a mountain lake right between the Hautes-Pyrenees (High Pirines). The scenery is grandiose and if you're up for some more adventure, we can visit the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, one of the most majestic summits in the Hautes-Pyrénées that awaits you at 2,877 metres.

The site’s magic continues into the night. Deep Celestial Blue is the color of the sky during nocturnal events called “Starry Nights”.

4. Castle Grey

The spectacular mountain scenery and Aranese heritage have lived for centuries sharing the culture and traditions of the Val d’Aran. Each of the 33 villages of the Aran has its church and some of them are real treasures, jewelry, both in architecture and sculptural paintings or found in the interior, an artistic legacy of great variety and exceptional wealth.

With its Castle Grey shades, in the center of the capital of Aran, stands Sant Miquèu of Vielha church - an example of the architectural transition from Romanesque to Gothic.

5. Burnt Orange

In the heart of Ardèche, the Pont d’Arc Cavern, the largest decorated cave replica in the world features an extraordinary collection of paintings, drawings, and engravings reproduced from the Chauvet Cave, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The black drawings on the burnt orange interior of the cave make a very good replica of the original cavern, Chauvet Cave, Ice Age Paleolithic Cave Paintings.
